Alright. Alright. Enough blubbering. I’m a writer, for crying out loud. So, if I don’t actually write something, then I’ll feel bad later. I always write for Swag, so, here goes.

Swag’s return to the fandom is more than a fangirling obsession on my part. While I am thrilled out of the simple reality that he is my favorite ask blog ever, I am happy for another reason as well. Equal to, if not more so, as a matter of fact.

For me, its what Swag represents as well.

Swag Once-ler is a fandom icon. Whether you like him or not is besides the point. He was one of the first ask blogs to open his doors and he was the first major one. The image of the green suit clad Swag with his blue shades and nasty mouth and wagon is something that extends back to the first few weeks of the fandom. He was there through every major event; from Primsa’s tiny chat birthday parties to the first panty raids to every AU. Weehawken was created because of him, and as an extension, Thneedville high as we’ve come to know and love. He is a major player in the Flu. He started some of the best fandom inside jokes.

He is one of our major icons; next to, in my opinion, only the actual Once-ler from the movie. And he didn’t become one of them just by having a smart mouth. He has been such an immense force out of his sheer likability. He’s funny. He’s smart. He’s witty. He accepts everyone for who they are and at the same time, will not hold his punches against anyone. Everyone is equal to him so they all get love and slammed and pancakes. He has his close friends, of course, but when there’s a Onceling in need, he’s been there.

He always tries to redirect negative fandom feels. He started a fandom wide water balloon fight. He has gone mental in a closet. He got lost in the ice of Canada. He has always been a source of distraction against issues and always a source of unity. He has also made posts saying not to fight, that there’s room for everyone, and to just shut up and eat the marshmallows. He is always there with a kind word when a Onceling is sad. They always have a seat up front in the Swag Wagon with him for private talks. He just makes people laugh with his randomness and wildness.

For me, Swag represents what’s good and fun about the fandom. The ask blogs, the creativity, the originality, the whole embrace of people’s ideas, and the friendship. He defends all of this by refusing to be drawn into the drama. Instead, he creates something fun to replace it; at least he’s always tried to. He’s always been a positive energy within the fandom; a huge one at that.

So, when I say, I’m glad Swag is back, its because with him, he brings double the pleasure and double the fun as just having Teen Swag. Swag Once-ler is the reason I joined the fandom. Its the best gift ever to have him return on the one year. And better, he’s perfect, he’s thrilled to see us, and he’s as arrogant as ever.

To have him back, and to get him back while keeping our Teen Queen, is one of the most amazing things I can think of. Swag is, and always will be, and always has been, the cornerstone of the fandom. You don’t have to like him. But, its impossible to ignore all that he has done for the fandom as a whole. So, its a grand thing to have this source of love, acceptance, insanity, and swagger return to us.

Welcome back, Swag. You’ve been missed.
